Art Story.

As an artist, Patricia is inspired by the natural world and loves to spend her time surrounded by nature. Having put her art practice on the back burner for many years as she concentrated on her public art career, she is now building her portfolio to capture the beauty of nature.

Patricia expresses herself through painting, drawing and collage with the goal to understand nature as it continues to change through natural and man-made processes. Through plein air and studio creation, Patricia builds her portfolio through skills acquired from professional training, experimentation, and observation. Her work reflects her respect and wonderment of the flora and fauna that surrounds us all.

In her outdoor paintings, she works to capture the beauty, colors, and vastness of nature. This work aims to identify how we are a part of something larger and more ancient than ourselves. Through this lens she is exploring her home in the Hudson Valley region through day trips and outdoor painting. She draws inspiration from the seasonal changes of the area and enjoys taking in the incomparable beauty of the region.

Her animal-based artworks explore the unique types of creatures that inhabit our shared planet. Originally focused on predatory mammals and birds, she expanded this work to appreciate the individual characteristics of all animal types and how the work together to support important ecosystems we all need to survive.

Patricia’s work in collage is more personal. It allows for meditation on specific areas and ideas that inspire her artistic and administrative work. Through collage she unpacks areas where she may be stuck or through references with nature, identifies phrases or concepts to encourage her to go on in life and work.

She holds a Master of Science in Arts Administration from Boston University, a Bachelor of Arts in painting from State University of New York at Plattsburgh, and an Associates in Applied Science in Commercial Art from Dutchess Community College.

Patricia lives in Poughkeepsie, New York.
